Though based heavily on canonical elements from the official Legend of Zelda franchise, the universe presented in Beyond the Sword is distinct in many ways. Still, fans will no doubt notice many familiar names of places.
In the case of the map of the planet – commonly called the “Golden World” – fans will certainly recognize the iconic land of Hyrule. In addition, they may even notice the presence of returning locations like “Holodrum” and “Labrynna.” Currently, the political and social landscape of the world is still somewhat barren, but with time, more will become visible.
Moving on to Hyrule itself, not only is it significantly larger than ever before, but also denser and more complex. From the image below, many may see many familiar locations, but also various unknown ones as well. In Beyond the Sword, I’ve striven to make Hyrule a large, cosmopolitan civilization. It’s composed of a multitude of different races and cultures, making it a highly diverse land. My hope is that players will find such a complex setting interesting and relatable, and enjoy creating PCs to inhabit it.
Given time and resources, I’m unable to provide more and detailed maps. Still, at least these two can give a sense of where the project is going in terms of its setting.
Please stay alert to new updates, as new maps may be showcased in the future.
